House only: show just your own content
Switch a screen to House only so it plays only your own pictures and videos — what happens to booked ads, the content check, and who can switch it.
Some nights the TV is for you: your specials, your events, your menu, and nothing from anyone else. House only is the switch for that. It's at the top of the screen's settings, under Between ads: choose Available for advertising or House only.
What House only does
- Only your own content plays: the pictures, videos and cards in your library. No ads, and no RedSquare card.
- Advertisers can no longer find the screen. It leaves Discover, isn't counted in the live screens number, and can't be booked, not from a saved link either.
- If nothing in your library can play right now, the TV shows your venue's name card instead of going blank, with a small RedSquare QR code in the corner. That small code is the only RedSquare mark a House-only screen ever shows.
How long
Pick until closing time (offered when the screen has opening hours that day), until a time you choose (in the screen's own time zone), or until I switch it off. A timed House only ends by itself and the screen goes back to advertising. You get a short note when it does. Switch it off early any time, and ads booked for the rest of that time play as booked.
What advertisers are told
Bookings already made are not cancelled. Before you switch, the screen shows the bookings that fall in that time. When you confirm, each advertiser affected is told straight away, by email and in the app, that their ad won't play at those times. If you switch back early, they're told their ad is back on.
Refunds
A play that falls inside House only simply doesn't run, the same as if the screen were off, and it's refunded to the advertiser automatically when the booking ends. Nobody has to file anything. Free bookings have nothing to refund.
The TV picks up the switch within about a minute, so an ad already playing, or about to start, may still run and is counted as played.
Your library
Between ads holds the library for both modes: it fills the gaps between ads, and in House only it's everything that plays.
- Add pictures, GIFs and videos, up to 50 items per screen, or make a card.
- Every upload is checked by the same automatic check as ads before it plays. It says Checking… while it's looked at, Ready when it's cleared, and why if it isn't allowed. An item that isn't ready doesn't play.
- Order: In my order (move items up and down) or Shuffle, which reshuffles each hour.
- Schedule each item: always, repeating on chosen days at times to the minute (for example Mon–Fri 5:00–7:00 pm, with an optional last day), or once, from a date and time until another.
- Pictures stay on screen 20 seconds unless you change it for that item. A video or GIF plays for its own length.
Who can switch it
You, or a Manager on your team (see Inviting collaborators). It can't be switched on for a screen that's being removed. Pausing a screen is separate: a paused screen can be switched to House only, and stays paused afterwards.
