Pricing your screen
Free or paid, your price per 10-second play, surge and off-peak hours, the bulk discount, and Smart pricing.
We're growing the network. Right now every booking is free and no payment is taken: advertisers are charged nothing and nothing is paid out. Every screen that joins makes the network more valuable for everyone on it, and meanwhile a screen owner can advertise their own business free on the other screens. Paid ad time opens once the network reaches 50 screens and payments are set up. What this article says about paying and getting paid describes how paid bookings work from then.
Every price control is on the screen's Settings → Price page (/my-screens/:id/settings/pricing). How those numbers become what an advertiser pays is explained in How pricing works.
Free or paid
The first card says whether the screen charges. Make this screen free lets advertisers book it at no cost; your price is kept, and Start charging brings it back. Once paid ad time opens, a paid screen is shown to advertisers only when payouts are connected; a free one does not need them. While we grow the network every screen is listed without payouts, and every booking is free — your price is kept as your price when paid ad time opens.
Price per 10-second play
This is the price of one 10-second unit, in steps of 10¢. An image plays for 20 seconds by default, so one play of it costs two units; a video costs its own length. Under it you see the hourly equivalent (360 plays at your price, before surge) — for comparison only; nothing is charged by the hour.
Max static-image seconds is the longest one image play can last on your screen (30 unless you change it), so no single image takes over the rotation.
Surge pricing
Pick a preset — No surge (flat), Weekend peak +25% or Evenings +50% — or open Advanced pricing (per-hour grid), choose a multiplier (0.1× to 5×) and click the hours it applies to. Above 1× an hour costs more; below 1× it costs less. Right-click a cell to put it back to 1×. Press Save settings when you are done.
Common patterns:
- Bar / restaurant: 1.5× on weekend evenings.
- Gym: 1.3× weekday mornings (6–8am).
- Coffee shop: 1.3× weekday morning rush.
With two or more screens, Bulk screen actions (Account → Screen owner tools, or /account/tools/bulk-actions) sets one multiplier on the same days and hours across several screens at once.
Off-peak discount
In the Surge pricing card: set a discount (1–90%), pick the days and hours that are usually quiet, and press Mark as off-peak. They turn green in the grid and cost that much less; Clear off-peak hours undoes it. Press Save settings to keep it.
Bulk discount
In the Pricing & policy card: turn on Bulk discount and fill in "__% off bookings of __ plays or more" (1–50%, 2 plays or more). A booking that reaches the number gets the discount on every play. Advertisers see it as, for example, 10% off 100+ plays.
Smart pricing
Shows the lowest, median and highest price per 10-second play among active screens within about 5 miles, and whether yours is above, inside or below that range. When there are too few screens nearby it says so.
Turn on Move my price with demand, weekly to let RedSquare adjust your price every Monday from the last four weeks' bookings: up 10% when more than your target fill plus 10 points of your open hours sold, down 10% when fewer than the target minus 10 points did. It never raises your price past your ceiling or cuts it past your floor (a price you typed outside that range only moves toward it). You are told each time, bookings already made keep their price, and any price you type is saved and becomes the new starting point.
When to revisit
- Once a month for an established screen.
- After a seasonal change (school year, tourist season).
- When your hours keep going unsold — or keep selling out.
