Pairing your device
How to get your TV / streaming stick / computer onto your screen.
The RedSquare Screen Player runs on whatever device drives your screen — Fire TV, Android TV / Google TV, Roku, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, or a spare computer (Windows / macOS / Linux). Nothing is in a TV app store yet: every smart-TV install is a sideload / developer-mode install, and redsquare.app/setup-redsquare gives the steps per device. A spare computer plugged into the TV's HDMI port is the quickest path today. There's no Apple TV player yet.
Two paths
A new screen: pair with the code on the TV (recommended)
- Install and launch the Screen Player on the device (downloads at
redsquare.app/download). It displays a short pairing code, a QR, and a short Device ID. - On your phone, scan the QR or go to
redsquare.app/add-screen. - Enter the code and check the Device ID matches your TV. You fill in the screen's details on the same page and it is created for you — there is no screen to pick. The TV flips to its display mode automatically — no typing on the TV remote, ever.
You don't have to sign in on the TV. The approval on your phone carries everything we need to bind the device to your account.

A screen you already have
If you saved the screen as a draft, or you're connecting another TV to it, go to redsquare.app/pair — or the screen's TV & pairing settings (/my-screens/:id/settings/tv) — enter the code the TV shows, confirm the Device ID, and pick the screen.
Replacing a device
Pair the new device to the screen as above. Then, in the screen's TV & pairing settings, press Release paired device to take the old one off. Plays the old device reported stay recorded against the screen.
What if pairing fails?
- Code expired: a code lasts 15 minutes, and the TV shows a new one on its own when it runs out. Press Get a new code on the TV for a fresh one sooner.
- Code not found: double-check you typed it correctly (8 characters, no spaces; the alphabet excludes I, L, O, U so they don't get confused).
- Code used while you were typing: the TV shows a new one — press Enter the new code; everything else you typed is kept.
- "This TV is already paired to another account": release it from that account's TV & pairing settings, or unpair it on the TV, then try again.
- Device shows up as paired but no heartbeat in the dashboard: the device may be paired-but-offline. Check its internet connection and that the Screen Player is actually running.
